Advanced Topics in Law, Rights and Justice - LAWS700
In Australia, like other common law societies, a range of rights have been hotly contested for centuries. Settlers, Indigenous peoples, administrators, plaintiffs and defendants, have all fought (in the courts, on the hustings, in newspapers, and often with guns and other instruments of violence) over their rights and the role of justice. This unit examines, in varied historical and political contexts, the interaction between law, rights and justice.
