Teaching Consecutive Interpreting - TRAN859

This unit introduces students to pedagogical approaches that are considered to be the benchmark in teaching consecutive interpreting. The unit is underpinned by international research findings in interpreting studies on the cognitive process, skills and techniques used by interpreters working in this mode. The unit will also focus on aspects of quality in interpreting and both summative and formative methods of evaluation of quality in interpreting. Students will be encouraged to reflect on the application of the relevant pedagogical approaches and research findings to practice and in particular to their own teaching.
