Contemporary Issues 2 - PSYP907

This unit provides both theory and skills training for several different client problems and therapeutic strategies relevant to the particular client presentation. The unit teaches the management of various kinds of trauma and theory relevant to the various interventions, eg Acute stress disorder and PTSD. The unit also teaches theory and skills for dealing with clients who experience grief and loss. The unit also teaches strategies for conducting schema therapy and the various contexts within which this is useful. The unit also teaches the management of traumatised clients from a narrative therapy perspective. This unit teaches about domestic violence and how this relates to the concept of complex trauma.
