Strategic Human Resource Management - MGSM800

This unit explores the theories and practices that support a strategic approach to human resource management, specifically exploring the link between HRM principles, policies and practices and organisational performance. A range of forces that impact on HRM are identified and discussed including: globalisation, sustainability, institutional pressures, government regulation, strategic choice and also the role of employer associations and trade unions. Students will examine cases and develop practical people management skills applicable to their role as a manager in a range of HR-related areas including recruitment and selection, performance management, training and development, managing employee voice, diversity planning and employee well-being.
