Professional Practice 1 - MEDI806
This unit is offered on a pass/fail basis.
This unit utilises the internationally recognised CanMEDS competencies to develop students’ knowledge and skills in professional practice. There are six competencies that constitute the Medical Expert: Communicator, Scholar, Collaborator, Manager, Health Advocate, and Professional. In this unit, students will enhance their understanding of and competence in the delivery and coordination of safe patient care by focusing on a these competencies, with a different competency forming the core of the unit throughout each of the six offerings in the degree. This is the first of six units on professional practice in this degree. Teaching will include ongoing development over the duration of the degree through a spiralling curriculum design. Each unit will focus on a particular aspect framed within the CanMEDS structure.
