Early Christian Historiography - ECJS940

This unit surveys the history of research into early Christianity and examines in detail the sources and methods, including recent archaeological evidence, used by contemporary historians to assess the life of Jesus and its aftermath. Attention is also given to the variety of ways in which the remembered Jesus was interpreted by figures such as the apostle Paul, James the brother of Jesus and the later Gnostics.
