Design and Statistics IV - PSY418
This unit is designed to both teach methods applicable to many Honours projects and to equip students for research careers. The unit focuses on practical issues of quantitative data analysis. Most topics are dealth with in the context of SPSS for Windows. The topics include: Reading data into SPSS and checking for, and correcting errors; Manipulating data and selecting cases; Using basic descriptive procedures and other useful procedures, such as reliability; Carrying out standard ANOVA analyses, mostly already covered in earlier units, using the GLM procedure in SPSS, with both point-and-click and syntax; Using the manova procedure for power calculations; Testing and interpreting interactions (moderation) in multiple regression; path analysis with GLM and AMOS; Repeated measures and the analysis of longitudinal data; Latent variable models - EFA, CFA and structural equation models (SEM); and Multivariate analyses.
