Media Politics - POL302
In modern societies, it is often said, that the media lie at the heart of the exercise of power. But how powerful are the media, whose views and actions do they shape and why? Which media are the most powerful? How did they become powerful, how do they sustain their power and what challenges do they face? Focusing in liberal democracies, especially Australia, this unit looks at argument and evidence about media power across a range of media—from the press, radio, and television to the internet.
