Metaphysics - PHL358
Thisunit examines some traditional questions in analytic metaphysics. The unit covers six main themes, namely: identity and change, modality, causation, mental causation, time, and universals and particulars. In examining these themes, we will discuss the different ways in which they have been understood, and draw out the connections between them. We will also examine the idea of time travel and what our understanding of it tells us about our metaphysical concepts, as well as taking a look at representations of metaphysical themes in fiction.
