Women Making History - MHIS348

This unit focuses on the many ways in which women produced history in the past. Exploring the intersection between religion, reform and revolution, this unit examines the multiple genres women utilised to examine the past: the vitae of saints during the early Middle Ages; Renaissance defences of womanhood; the confessional history produced by Protestant and Catholic women during the Reformation; the historical fiction and national tales of the Romantic period; royal biographies and the more explicitly feminist histories that emerged in the late 19th century.
