Labour Law - LAW457
The primary objective of the unit is to explore the way law governs the labour market. The unit begins with the socio-legal nature of labour law. This is followed the common law doctrines that categorise the employment relationship. The unit then fans out to embrace major topics that highlight the interplay between labour law and the social structure: Race and ethnicity in the workplace ; class and gender in the workplace occupational health and safety law; the legislative framework of enterprise bargaining; and the rise and fall of the arbitration system.
