Early Childhood Reflective Practice 5 - ECHP422
This unit aims to develop independent professionals who become confident and competent beginning early childhood teachers. Students are required to demonstrate an understanding of, and ability to, implement the integrative approach distinctive to early childhood practice. Students refine their professional behaviours as early childhood teachers, building on professional, organisational, and interpersonal skills in multiple contexts, including developing relationships with families. Students also critique issues of bias and social justice in group settings for young children. The field experience component includes observation days and a block period of teaching in early childhood settings. Students must take major responsibility during this period for adult negotiation and decision making as well as responsibility for planning programs, adapting environments, implementing teaching experiences, and assessing children's learning and well being. Professional reflection and self-evaluation is a key component of this experience.
