Using Demographic Data in Management - DEM356

This unit enhances the students' knowledge of the dynamics of population change by teaching them advanced quantitative demographic skills. Some of the topics covered include: testing the accuracy of demographic data; stable populations and model life tables; multiple decrement tables; estimating internal migration, techniques of estimating fertility and mortality using incomplete data; and component analysis. Students are provided with hands-on skills of analysing demographic data for Australia and selected overseas countries.
