Performing Place, Space and Bodies - CUL331
From elaborate theatre productions to routine enactments in our everyday lives, performance occurs in particular places at specific times. Through workshop exercises and critical reflection, this unit investigates the role of space and place in performance. It turns to site-specific performances (occurring in suburban streets and on the windows of sky-scrapers) as well as how we enact place in our everyday movements and behaviour. Students are simultaneously encouraged to develop their own literary non-fiction writing, as they write dynamically about bodies, place and movement.
