Crime Research and Policy - SOC848
This unit examines crime and justice in critiques of liberal democracy. Drawing on a brief history of criminological thought the unit uses specialist sessions with practicing researchers to unpack the challenges posed by changing political understandings of crime research and policy. The emphasis is on understanding the relevance of theory to research, unpacking themes in crime research and demonstrating the links of crime research as an informing influence on, critique of and/or opposition to the dominant trends in crime policy emerging around the world.
