Working with Children and Families - PSYP906

The focus of this unit is on the emotional, social, cognitive and behavioural development of children as well as the range of problems children present. Theory and skills training is provided on assessing and working with children and their families. The unit provides students with different therapeutic approaches to family problems, including strengths based practice and creative therapeutic approaches for working with children. Skills for the assessment and intervention with a range of childhood problems will be developed. Skills training in parent management interventions and developing communication with children with a disability is provided.
