Psychological Assessment I - PSYN853

The main aim of this unit is to familiarise students with a range of commonly used tests in neuropsychological practice. Theoretical and clinical information as well as training in the administration of selected tests is provided. Tests covered include those of intellectual function, memory, adaptive function, as well as computerised methods. Adult and child assessment techniques are taught. Initial interviewing and history taking is covered. Psychometric issues related to measurement error, diagnostic efficiency statistics and reliable change are also included along with interpretation of results and report writing. The importance of base rate analysis is emphasized.
