Cognitive Behavioural Interventions - PSYA903

This unit provides theory and skills training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). The unit also covers the theory and practice of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT), mindfulness and relaxation therapy. The emphasis on practice of skills ensures that the student has opportunity for supervision in CBT across a wide range of problems involving attitude change and reduction of fear. Students are taught skills training strategies, role playing techniques, relaxation training and systematic desensitization, guided imagery, cognitive rehearsal and behavioural strategies for use with depressed and anxious clients. Students are taught how and when to use ACT, DBT and mindfulness.
