Competitive Intelligence - PICT846
Competitive Intelligence (CI) can be described as a functional intelligence discipline—using legal and ethical means—for discovering, developing and delivering timely knowledge about the external environment to facilitate effective decision-making in a commercial environment. This unit will examine the application of intelligence processes and procedures in the commercial business community. We will examine the practices of gathering and analysing information about competitors' activities to inform decisions which maintain a competitive advantage. The unit will look at aspects of protecting an organisation's knowledge assets from vulnerabilities and threats from competition. The threat of economic espionage will be explored, using historical and current examples as case studies.
