MSurg Surgical Elective 9 - MSP809
The graduate will demonstrate specialist expertise in the evaluation, pre-operative, operative and peri-operative care of patients undergoing surgery at the level of performance expected of a senior specialist. Six stages in the surgical care of the patient are used to structure the Learning Outcomes, they are:
1. Patient evaluation
2. Management planning
3. Management implementation
4. Operative procedure
5. Post-operative care
6. Review of patient care
Two additional non-clinical "stages" complete the Competencies and Learning Outcomes; they are:
7. Scholar self-audit and review
8. Unit overview and evaluation.
