Natural Resource Economics - GSE809
This unit is concerned with strategies for sustainable economic development from the management of natural resources. Part A deals with the development of conceptual frameworks. The conceptual frameworks are based on alternate paradigms that require revisions to principles and methods in economics to the context of natural resource management. (Standard paradigms seek the application of prevailing principles and methods to natural resource issues). Part B deals with the application of these frameworks to specific cases such as mineral and energy resources, soil and water resources, forestry resources and fisheries. Part C deals with the applications of these frameworks in macroeconomics and the formulation at macro level of policies for sustainable development.
