Financial Law - FREG801
This unit provides an overview and introduction of legal frameworks, differentiates common and civil law, explains the role of the constitution and provides working definitions for international treaties and memorandums of understanding (MOUs). It outlines the primary areas of the law that govern and regulate decision making within the different types of financial institutions, namely trusts, banks, life and general insurance companies, pensions, securities and collective investment firms. Other financial sector laws, including privacy, trade sanctions and money-laundering; which apply to multiple types of financial institutions are also explained.
