Tools for Editing - EDIT980
The unit will be one of 2 foundation units in the Postgraduate Certificate in Editing. It lays the groundwork in terms of professional editing, focusing first on the roles and skills of the editor, as defined by the evolving sets of standards in Australia and overseas. It examines the different media in which editors work, and "tools" and resources they can draw on. Reference guides in style, usage and grammar are discussed, as well as regional preferences and issues of editorial policy, e.g. in relation to inclusive language. Selections in typography and layout for documents are also discussed.
