Health Indicators and Health Surveys - BCA803
Sources of routinely-collected health-related data; how these data are used to derive population measures of fertility, mortality and morbidity, and to measure health service utilisation, disease registration and reporting; quantitative demographic methods of age standardisation and calculation of life expectancy by life table techniques to obtain valid comparisons; the development, design and delivery of a valid and reliable health questionnaire; focus groups and other qualitative methods; standard instruments used in health surveys, coding, validity and reliability of measures, advantages and disadvantages of modes of data collection; design and implementation of an efficient sampling strategy; analysis and interpretation of the data.
