Language for Specific Purposes - APPL940

Language for Specific Purposes is of increasing significance in both research and language teaching. The unit provides an introduction to major issues in the use of language in professional and business contexts with a particular emphasis on intercultural communication and the influence of electronic forms of communication. Implications for language teaching, in terms of course and materials design and development, testing, and the management of language programs are discussed.
