Archaeological Field Visit - AHPG816

The unit provides the opportunity for students to examine archaeological sites on location in Egypt accompanied by lecturers from Macquarie and specialists from Egypt. The important sites to be visited include those excavated and published by Macquarie University staff, such as Giza, Saqqara, Deshasha, Beni Hassan, Meir, Deir el-Gebrawi, El-Hawawish and Thebes. Research seminars will be conducted on site and involve presentations, group discussion and the submission of a major research essay. Numbers are limited and before enrolment students must consult the unit convenors and are expected to have completed at least AHIS278: Egyptian Hieroglyphs A and AHIS280: Ancient Egyptian Culture and Society.
