SPN210: Passion and Repression
This unit extends the abilities of students studying Spanish at Intermediate level by exposing them to a variety of genres (film, poetry and theatre) that explore the expression of desire of Spanish speaking women against the power of dominant gender constructions. It is expected that through a feminist Foucaultian analysis of these works the student learn about an important aspect of these societies. This unit also opens up possibilities of creative self-expression in Spanish around the theme of passion and repression.
