HLTH200: Contemporary Health Issues

This unit provides an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of health studies, and canvasses key and emerging health issues in contemporary society. Topics covered include: health and inequality; Indigenous health; ethical perspectives on health and health care; health promotion; GIS and health; and the effects of the biophysical environment on human health. The unit aims to situate day-to-day debates about individual health issues in their broader context. A core unit in the Bachelor of Health program, it is also open to students from the wider university community interested in contemporary health issues.
