ECH333: Developmental Difference and Disability
This unit introduces students to working with children with a range of differences and disabilities. A primary emphasis is working with families. Students also consider working as part of a multidisciplinary team. During the unit, students explore conceptions of inclusive education and features of inclusive environments and communities, consider theoretical models of disability, develop their understanding of appropriate terminology and language and acquire skills in developing Individualised Family Service Plans, Individual Education Plans, selecting appropriate generic, specific instructional strategies and techniques for evaluating outcomes of interventions. Students also learn to communicate using alternative communication systems.
