AHIS360: Monasticism in Egypt

This unit is a study of the monastic movement in Egypt. Emphasis is placed on the formative period and its influence on monastic movements in the West. The material culture of monasticism in Egypt, including monastic archaeology and architecture, aspects of daily life and burial customs, is also be considered.
