PSYN843: Behavioural Management and Psychopathology

The aim of this unit is to develop a basic understanding of common psychological disorders including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder; diagnostic classification systems such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual; how to undertake a mental status examination; the diagnostic evaluation of psychological disorders using appropriate assessment tools, and different diagnosis of the major psychological disorders; the neuropsychology of common psychological disorders; and the basic behavioural assessment and management of common psychological disorders in patients with acquired and traumatic brain injury.
