IRPG832: The European Union and the International System

This unit examines the history and development of the European Union from its origins to the present, incorporating theoretical perspectives on integration and the EU as a global actor. Member states and institutions, various policy areas, important international relationships, strategic challenges, and questions of identity are among the other topics analysed. This unit involves a compulsory end of semester exam which must be attended at the Macquarie University campus or at an approved exam centre in Australia (if outside the metropolitan area).
