ANTH815: Development Theory and Practice
This unit considers development studies from two different perspectives: anthropology of development that considers theoretical approaches over the past 40 years and development anthropology that examines contemporary practices within development programs. Using case studies, we consider how the World Bank and IMF operate, debt relief, NGOs, gender, sustainable development, mass media, development induced displacement and Australia's aid policies.
