INTS102: China in World History

This unit is a study of China in world history from the earliest times to the present. Topics covered include: prehistoric relations between China and Europe; the cosmopolitan nature of the Tang dynasty; Buddhism from India; the spread of Chinese civilisation to Japan, Korea and Vietnam; Marco Polo, Genghis Khan, Jesuits and the introduction of western science into China; the Opium War and its consequences; Communism and Maoism; and China in the modern world.
