ECST100: Early Childhood Studies 1

This unit focuses on developing students' conceptualisation of teachers and teaching through an exploration and analysis of pedagogical frameworks and curriculum content. Professional development material provides a foundation from which students explore, challenge and extend their practices within the workplace. The unit commences with a week-long intensive school during which students are introduced to the academic culture at Macquarie University, and the theory and practices of university study. They examine key pedagogical concepts in early childhood education and undertake workshops to develop writing and technology skills.
