ECHL211: Genres of Theatre
This unit examines a select number of significant historical theatre genres - Ancient Greek theatre, Medieval Mystery plays, Commedia dell'arte, Shakespearean theatre and 18th century French theatre. It focuses on both the social context of each genre, the performative elements and the styles of acting. The unit is delivered completely online and is supported with specifically created video content. Students access a wide range of online unit material and interact with each other, the lecturer and the wider arts community through synchronous, asynchronous and virtual online forums.
