DANC320: Contemporary Dance 2
This unit is a practical and joyous studio based unit that continues and confirms the skills taught in DANC220 Contemporary Dance 1. A variety of dance styles are used to develop students' understanding of the principles of movement, the pleasure of dance and the power of conscious embodiment. These principles allow each student to approach any dance style with a degree of confidence, understanding and focus. Dance artistry is deepened and broadened, and students have further opportunities to develop their creative powers and physical discipline. Embodied performance skills are honed though individual dance projects and a sustained and customised personal practice. This unit is invaluable for students wishing to develop a physical virtuosity beneficial to many fields of practice. Students are also required to describe, analyse and articulate dance practice and principle in written assessments.
