CUL323: Ways of Reading

This unit examines contemporary Asian cultural production (visual, audio, print and multimedia texts) in the context of recent debates and issues that constitute Asian cultural studies. It explores the layered contexts within which contemporary gendered, classed, racialised and sexualised Asian identities are negotiated; how migrations and diasporas destabilise the West/Asia construction; and how everyday practices transform cultural borders and maps.
