AHIS347: Archaeological Field Work

D1. (Egypt). Students complete six weeks of full-time participation in an excavation in Egypt during the excavation season (usually November to January), visit other nearby archaeological sites and present a research essay on a topic related to the excavation. Numbers in this option are strictly limited and prospective students must consult Professor Kanawati, Associate Professor Ockinga or Dr Koehler prior to enrolment.
D2. (Mediterranean and Near-East). Students participate in a Mediterranean or Near-Eastern archaeological project of their own choice. The Department may provide a list of suitable fieldwork projects. It currently has an arrangement with the University of Ohio for students to participate in an archaeological project at Isthmia, Greece. Before enrolment students must consult with the unit coordinator Dr Ken Sheedy and complete a form outlining the proposed project.
