ABFS131: Introduction to Academic Numeracies
This foundation numeracy unit assists students to develop imaginative and logical approaches to problem solving as well as acquiring technical, computational and writing skills. Students develop a sound understanding of numeracy skills and basic statistics as a result of cooperative learning and practical activities. In addition students learn about the nature and role of mathematics in society. It is anticipated the growth in understanding and enjoyment of mathematics helps to change student attitudes towards mathematics. The knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired from this unit can be transferred to the workplace, community and home through report writing and reviewing, critical thinking, and willingness to tackle mathematical problems.
