ABST100: Introduction to Australian Indigenous Studies
This unit explores various issues and representations of Indigenous people and things over time, including those produced by Indigenous people themselves. We consider the ways that discourses in the academy, media and politics overlap to reproduce ideas and attitudes that are used, resisted and appropriated by Indigenous Australians for their own purposes. This is a rigorous, challenging and exciting unit which provides a foundation for further study in Indigenous Studies as well as standing alone as a thought provoking engagement with different points of view.
