2010 Course Handbook
PSYC893: Research and Design
The objectives of this compulsory unit are aligned to prepare students to be cognizant of the factors that are required to complete a well designed, analysed and written up piece of Psychological research. The unit does not emphasise statistical procedures but does emphasise scientific and analytical thinking. An introduction to SPSS is covered so that students are able to use a range of introductory statistical techniques including: t tests, correlations and simple ANOVAs. The unit enables students to use the results of simple statistical procedures to analyse the scientific merit of the results of empirical investigations. Students also complete either an empirical or a survey project.
