MSM820: Museum Studies and Information Management
This unit centres on museum issues such as: the philosophy of information organisation and the role of museums; the collection, preservation and provision of access to materials; mushrooming of stored knowledge related to digital storage of data; image capture, written materials, links to other sites; social and political background to information storage; copyright issues; web based presentations and case studies. Assignments will include web-based exercises, research essays, practical exercises and experience with information management systems. This unit does not count for credit with ELS/MSM202.
