LAW851: Climate Change and Energy Law

This unit will examine international and domestic climate law and policy from an interdisciplinary perspective with a focus upon the energy sector. The unit will examine the role of law in addressing climate and energy related issues globally, in Australia and in overseas jurisdictions. In particular the unit will explore the global approach to climate change and analyse current international legal challenges and strategies including the international legal instruments and institutions relating to climate protection. Australia's response to the UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol will also be considered as well as domestic energy policy, the role of an emissions trading system.
