ICOM817: Transnational Communication

This unit examines the structures and activities of global and local media and audiovisual industries including film, television, recorded music, advertising and new media. The unit will utilise a range of theoretical perspectives drawn from the fields of communications and cultural studies to assist understanding of transnationalism, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. Students will be able to apply insights gained through theoretical and practical illustrations to develop a case study of an industry, sector or national market relevant to their interests.
