ECED823: Language and Literacy in Early Childhood

This unit focuses on the role played by oral language and children's literature in fostering children's emerging understanding of literacy. Literacy development is studied in the context of the literacy practices of diverse families and communities, including Indigenous and bilingual families. Implications for early childhood educators are explored.
