ACES811: Educational Psychology and Practice

This unit focuses on recent theoretical and research findings in the field of educational psychology and human development. Learning modules examine topics of constructing learning, sociocultural perspectives and the Vygotskiian legacy, and social learning theories and motivation and engagement in educational contexts. This unit also enables students to take advantage of their background of study and/or employment and investigate a topic of interest from a psychological viewpoint. The unit is run as a combination of seminars and independent study. In the seminars you become more familiar with the field of educational psychology, while in the independent study you will apply educational psychology perspectives to a particular problem or issue you wish to investigate.
