2010 Course Handbook

Master of International Studies (Commences 2012)

Abbreviation: MIntStud

Description

The Master of International Studies program is aimed at high-achieving local and international students seeking careers in international organisations (including non-profit and humanitarian organisations), in diplomatic and related foreign services (eg trade or development), international communications (including journalism or other media work), management consultancy organisations and other private enterprise firms with an international dimension. The program will appeal in particular to those who already have a discipline-based major but who wish to pursue a course with an explicit international dimension that is not itself specifically discipline based. It will also appeal to students who missed the opportunity to study a foreign language at undergraduate level or who wish to incorporate further language study in a Master's program. An optional research component, together with a focus on issues in qualitative methodology in the taught core introductory unit, will also equip students for higher degree research.
