Master of International Relations Internship - IRPG838

The Department of Modern History, Politics and International Relations offers our Master of International Relations students a unique opportunity to utilise and develop their knowledge and skills in an unpaid internship.The internship consists of a placement of 130 hours at a government or non-government organisation concerned with international policy issues.Students will be involved in the core business of the organisation and have the opportunity to develop transferable skills in communication,teamwork and problem-solving.In addition to their work with the organisation, students are required to complete written assessment tasks that will be graded.

To be considered for the internship, students must have:

Completed at least three IRPG units with an average GPA of 3.0/4.0; and

Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.

In addition, internship placements are competitive and placements cannot be guaranteed.Partnerships are arranged on a best-fit basis,where the needs of the organisation and the student are carefully compared and matched.Organisations typically require applicants to attend an interview.Students may source their own internship placement, subject to approval from the Convenor of the unit.
