Clinical Chiropractic 3 - CHIR903

This unit has three aims:
1. The unit focuses on developing basic proficiency in Gonstead manual techniques and further developing proficiency in Diversified manual techniques. It covers indications and contraindications to manipulation and includes the clinical applications of these techniques.

2. The unit introduces students to the subject of electrophysical therapy: biophysical principles, dosimetry, indications for use, contra-indications for use, precautions, dangers and risks associated with use. A multidisciplinary and evidence-based approach to rehabilitation including functional restoration, pain and psychological management will be emphasised.

3. The unit provides an introduction to the assessment and management of musculoskeletal sports injuries within a chiropractic setting in Australia. Students will learn the basic principles of sports medicine and the regulatory framework within which sports injury management operates. A multidisciplinary team-based approach to the management of sports injuries will be emphasised.
